Career Coaching

In this section I am writing about career coaching.

For some people it may seem the wrong time and being inappropriate, talking about career, in a difficult historical moment, where to keep a job for many is already a great deal. Instead, we should all make a call off to our commitment and we can take the opportunity to make our personal reflections. If the economic situation appears static or even dramatic, this must not become an alibi to sit down and watch.

Remember! You are the ‘maker’ of your own journey!

Reorienting yourself, getting a course for refining your skills, doing assessments to learn more about yourself and your way to interact in your professional environment in order to proceed forward with more security. In other words move forward starting from yourself together with the help of a career coach!

In many people’s mind relying on a ‘career coach’ equals asking for a ‘consultant’s service’ and this is often associated with a rather burdensome investment that soon discourages us from attempting it. I wish to clarify: coaching for ‘free’ does not exist or else it could be a way a coach offers one ‘free’ session, to let you know personally how coaching goes. Coaching cannot be subject to a price list. Many factors occurs to set up the final session price: these can be the type of goals of the coachee, the time investment the coachee is able to bring, the mode of doing the sessions (online, one to one, telephone etc) other factors.

Therefore I suggest to ask for a meeting of mutual knowledge with the coach, which will around take 1 hour of your time. This often does not involve costs to be sustained and it is the most rapid way to take doubts out of the way. In fact a career coach often offers a so-called ‘zero’ session to allow the future coachee to discover personally the ‘coaching’ without asking for further commitment, if the coachee doesn’t want to. In fact one of the pillars of coaching is volunteerity. Which means without a real commitment of the coachee, a coach will never start or continue a coaching process.

Who is career coaching to be recommended to?

1 people who wants to orient themselves after university studies or masters,
2 the one who is in a period of demotivation or fatigue in his job or profession and wants to take in account a different direction and evaluate other streets,
3 those who lost their job or think to loose it and therefore need and want to find new solutions.
4 managers of any level who want to address corporate boards their application for a new position or role remaining within the same company,
5 to all those who want to face issues concerning one’s job or profession an their private sphere.
6 the owner of a company who wants to strengthen his workforce moving and adding new Human Resources and so needs to set goals, standards, procedures etc. to make the best choices.

Career coaching can be run through one to two hours sessions, usually along 2/3 months or more according to the single case.

In many cases the career coach opts for remote coaching sessions (video conference) alternated with one to one sessions, based on the needs of the coachee and depending on how the career coaching path proceeds. The availability of the career coach to remote coaching is nowadays very up to date. It can certainly be taken into consideration while you are in the ‘design phase’ of the coaching process with the coach. Anyway I would recommend to do remote coaching sessions only after some one-to-one sessions, where coach and coachee had the chance to build a strong trust to each other.

Finding the right coach is not easy. Read some more informations on this website, maybe you can find further helpful information.
