Why not offer the possibility of entering a coaching session at a time that allows the person to end his workday?
This kind of coaching ‘timing’ comes from the awareness that to concentrate, in the true sense of the term ‘center with oneself’, the person needs to detach from the routine, from the commitments of the day, from the daily work / family commitment etc. and comes also from the conviction that it is very important to take time for oneself, and therefore why not doing it when the world begins to slow down for the night and the noises of the day slowly change into silence?.
The silence of the contextual listening of the coach allows the essence of the person to come out and act. This night mode allows to make room for clarity, determination, lucidity of intent.
The engagement needed to the person involved (coachee) so that the coaching process at night can be positively and successfully carried on, is also expressed by the will to face an evening session welcoming and accepting the tiredness.
Now I would like to ask you: what is the tiredness according to you? How do you feel when you come to day end, after your job and family commitments?
The tiredness of which we are talking about, which is common to many of us, who do not obviously make a heavy and tiring physical work, is it really a physical fatigue or is it what we call ‘tension’?
If it was physical tiredness it would be enough to rest in peace on a bed for the night to allow the body to regenerate. And if it were instead real tension? How many times have you gone to bed, thinking of being tired physically, just to find yourself at midnight again with open eyes and a thousand thoughts traveling through the mind? How many times in front of body and mind tension you decided to have an hour jogging or walk in the open air and did simply cancel it (or almost) to feel thereafter much better and ready to do other things?
The tension derived from mental work together with long sedentarity during many hours in a day, causes our mind and our body to become rigid and stunned.
The coaching activity in the evening, allows the person to divert his attention from everything that created tension during the day, in order to enter a state of relaxation and well-being generated by the concentration and the focus of the person on his personal goals, on the discovery of solutions, on topics that personally concern him and who certainly give him a sensation of well-being, joy and satisfaction. This taking time for yourself thus generates a surplus of energy that increases the sense of personal awareness and self-esteem.
Doing coaching to improve, get deeply desired things, grow or fill gaps and acquire awareness is equivalent to an investment that is worth doing even in front of an unmanageable tiredness/tension. The coaching sessions are in fact delayed (one from another) around 10 to 15 days. Such a time frame allows the coachee to develop certain skills, do the things that has planned to carry out so to reach the next step, resolve issues as from his ‘action plan’, addressing new topics and so on.
