Many of us know that team work brings positive results, but very few are really convinced that team work is essential!
How does it works? What does make a team more successful than others? Which is the reason why some teams often achieve excellent results and other teams seem to go nowhere?
In the era of information, of sudden advancements of technology, in a multicultural, globalized environment, the teams are the best capital to provide the competitive jump that can enable the company to reach their business results on time.
A successful team work is the result of many factors, including an influential leadership, the commitment of the team members, high communication skills and a clear corporate vision.
Obviously every organization will meet specific challenges, for which teams are the most practical and powerful means to reach goals available to the board. One of the top management’s responsibility is to take care about the business performance and the type of team that could provide it.
Management must recognize the unique potential of a team to deliver excellent results and must strategically deploy teams, promoting the basic discipline of teams that will make them effective.
In this way you create the type of environment that allows teams to achieve high performance not otherwise possible by ‘group work’ or individuals.
Team work is the result primarily of a learning process, followed by its construction and consolidation.
The beginning of the team coaching process relates to first create or strengthen the foundations and right attitude in the corporate or business board, then act on an existing team or create a new one, according to criteria and strict rules supported by the coach and of course with clear objectives and defined the times.
The most significant success factor of the team work is improving ‘the ability to communicate’ up to high levels. In this task the coach will work together with the team leaders and team members to achieve the set objectives.
The team coach provides:
1 promoting a protected and secure environment and an open communication,
2 coaching to the team leaders to improve their skills’, their leadership, to facilitate the conflicts resolution, improve the ‘meeting’ management, increase performance and implement communication and other targets,
3 coaching to the team members in order to support their growth and their integration within the team and enhance their skills and attitudes,
4 tools such as Assessments, promotes mutual understanding of the leadership styles of the team members, encourages awareness and support major changes,
5 feedbacks for increasing self-awareness, assessing progress and stimulate further action,
6 team building moments so to strengthen the relationships between the members and consolidate the sense of unity and self-efficacy of the team,
THE TEAM IS A CATALYST FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BUSINESS
Whenever individuals create and work in a team, there is, however, both the opportunity to achieve success and the possibility of a failure,
Here are some thoughts on the present reality:
You may often hear talking of ‘team work’ in business contexts, associations, groups, etc., but is it really the ‘team-work’ they are talking about?
Many believe that to be successful you need only to devote yourself to hard ‘work’, but we know that the world is full of people who are struggling so much and they never succeed in forming an efficient ‘team’ to fully express their potential.
Many believe that a successful team is the result of a ‘chemical mix’ or can be build just simply putting together winning horses, that were chosen according to criteria which are often unsuitable and wrong for the team!
These could be wrong convictions, because if it were so, we would see a lot more effective teams in our businesses and excellence would be achieved by many more companies.
In the team work theory we could observe a wide range of team cases. However in the real world out there we are facing a distressing and disarming truth:
We face the lack of deep knowledge of this matter and of awareness of managers and business leaders about this important issue.
People often misunderstand the ‘team’ with the ‘group’ which is a set of people disconnected with rough tasks and not integrated each other, without S.M.A.R.T. goals, few suitable tools, no team building and, moreover, without a good leader!
How can we think that these groups could truly become a ‘team’ and achieve objectives?
On the other hand we find sometimes effective or quite productive teams that reach, even partially, the set goals. But let’s not forget that often in these situations the credit of this temporary and partial effectiveness can be associated with the ‘Momentum’!
